DATE HIRED: April 2001
FIRST STORY: The first live report I ever covered was a Tall Ship coming into port in Erie. I interviewed the ship's Captain, and at the end of the interview, he asked me if he could give me a kiss on the cheek. Um, no thanks, I politely declined. But later, after the interview ended and we talked about how well it went, I jokingly returned the offer for a smooch on his cheek. He smirked, and politely declined. Go figure?
FAVORITE STORY: I enjoy covering human interest stories. The Spirit of Courage series featured on WSEE every fall, in conjunction with the Sisters of St. Joseph, is my absolute favorite. Uplifting stories of personal success. What could be better?
MEMORABLE INTERVIEW: Comedian Lewis Black and David Brenner were both guests on "Newswatch This Morning" when I was anchor of the morning show. Lewis Black, though, stands out as the most memorable and, by far, favorite interview of my television career. That's not to say that I didn't thoroughly enjoy a little ditty on camera once with Vince Neil of the Crue. He came to Erie to - of all things - promote the grand opening of the Delta Sonic Gas Station on upper Peach Street.
DREAM JOB: To be a Bob Barker Beauty. No, seriously, my dream job is anchoring Headline News at CNN. That's not to say that I don't simply love my career here at WSEE - I absolutely do!
FAVORITE TV SHOW: Curb Your Enthusiasm is definitely my favorite. But, I could watch the Sopranos and Dexter all day long...
FAVORITE MOVIE: As Good As It Gets, Sixteen Candles, and The Breakfast Club. Three-way tie!
FAVORITE BOOK: Green Eggs and Ham. An easy read...

WHY I AM A JOURNALIST: I became a print journalist (early in my career) because I've always felt a responsibility to report the truth fairly and accurately. Switching career gears to broadcast journalism seemed a natural progression for me. |
