Ray joined the WSEE Stormteam in December of 2003 as Meteorologist of Morning's Live, and WSEE Newswatch at Noon. Being a native of Ashtabula, Ray is no stranger to the ever-changing and sometimes crazy climate that this area has to offer and he is up to the challenge of forecasting it every day. Believe it or not, weather is sort of a family business for Ray. He caught the weather bug from his father who is a meteorologist in Cleveland.

Before coming to Newswatch, Ray worked as a news and weather anchor in Parkersburg, WV where he anchored the highest-rated local noon news program in the country. Ray has also worked in newsrooms in Cleveland and Youngstown.

Ray holds seals of approval from both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.  He is the only meteorologist in Erie with both seals!

When Ray is off the clock, he enjoys spending time with his wife Rachel, daughter Elizabeth, and his lab, Lucy. He also enjoys hiking, fishing, tennis and obsessing about the weather.

ROLE MODEL: I would have to say my dad. He's a meteorologist too. I just hope I am half as accurate as he is!

ALMA MATER: Ashtabula High School, University of Akron (Communications) and Mississippi State (Meteorology)

KIDS: Elizabeth Rae Petelin, the cutest baby on the planet!!!

ZODIAC SIGN: Scorpio

HOBBIES: I like spending time outside with my wife and my dog. I used to play tennis, but I am really rusty, so if we ever play go easy on me.

FAVORITE MUSICIAN: I like every genre of music. Picking one is just something I can't do.

WHY I AM A METEOROLOGIST: Fate. I tried to fight it, but through a series of events I get to be the guy that graces your tv screen every morning. I don't regret a thing either.
